\"\"<\/a>20359<\/span> Hamburg:<\/strong> Renovation of old buildings and ecological everyday design in one of the most famous formerly occupied houses in Europe. Today Hafenstra\u00dfe consists of 12 houses, approx. 120 residents of all ages (approx. 50 WEs), owned by a cooperative. Completion: 1988

Hafenstra\u00dfe is the epitome of squatting, wanting to live differently and the autonomous scene in Hamburg. At the beginning of the 80s, empty, rather dilapidated apartments were quietly squatted. From then on began the residents' struggle against the state and the police, which lasted until the final eviction. The decision-making body is still the plenum, an assembly of residents, neighbours and those affected; decisions are made according to the consensus principle.<\/p>\n

In 1988, the houses are transferred to the Lawaetz Foundation, which is close to the SPD and is responsible for the basic renovation.<\/p>\n
