Quadro house development in Mölln

23881 MöllnIn the Doktorhof area of Mölln, 26 low-energy houses in timber frame construction with plots of approx. 230 - 410 sqm have been built on a construction area of approx. 8,000 sqm. The aim was to save costs and space with the help of the "Quadro-Haus" concept with a tent roof. The housing estate was built with the support of the state subsidy programme "resource-saving building". Completion: ~1999

Location / Address
In the Möllner Doktorhof area, ten minutes walk to the city centre, between Lankauer Weg and the street "Doktorhof".

Private Residential and play street
The loose division of the houses into small groups creates spatial situations that are intended to encourage the residents to come into contact with each other. The children can meet on the private residential and play street, which was designed on the basis of classic village residential structures. Important to the architects are retreats into the private sphere, through gardens and terraces that are protected from view. The play street is only used by residents.

Sparing development to avoid soil sealing.
Rainwater infiltration. Partial rainwater harvesting.
As green as possible character of the wooden building development.

Promotion
State subsidy programme "Resource-saving building" (1997) with a one-off grant of DM 7,500 plus subsidies of up to DM 7,500 for more extensive ecological measures.
