In the first construction area \"Bo01\", 1300 apartments were built on 30 hectares with ambitious sustainability goals. A row of terraced houses was built as a European building exhibition. Background<\/strong>
\nwith the construction of the \u00d6resund Bridge, Malm\u00f8 has taken off in a big way and now forms a metropolitan region with Copenhagen. Malm\u00f8 is the third largest city in Sweden after Stockholm and Gothenburg and is located in the extreme southwest of the country.<\/p>\n

The V\u00e4stra Hamnen district combines living, working, education and leisure and is the first project in Scandinavia to implement an overall concept based on sustainability. The district's energy supply is based 100 percent on wind and solar energy as well as biogas; air conditioning for the buildings is provided by solar collectors and heat pumps as well as sea and ground water.<\/p>\n

In addition to the high quality of living, V\u00e4stra hamnen also offers a high and varied recreational value. The entire district is dotted with green spaces, ponds, artificial watercourses and fountains. In some places there are bathing places that invite you to jump into the water of the \u00d6resund practically on your doorstep.<\/p>\n

The landmark of the new district of V\u00e4stra Hamnen is the Turning Torso by the architect Santiago Calatrava<\/a>; at 190 metres, the tallest skyscraper in Scandinavia.<\/p>\n
