Photo: Mainova<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>60326 Frankfurt:<\/strong> Mainova has built a photovoltaic (PV) plant with a total output of around 1,500 kilowatts peak (kWp) in Frankfurt's Friedrich-Ebert-Siedlung. This means that the largest housing estate photovoltaic plant in Hesse (second largest in Germany) will be fully connected to the grid at the beginning of 2019. The locally generated, climate-friendly solar power from their own roof can be used directly by the tenants on site.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Mainova is cooperating with the housing association ABG Frankfurt Holding on this project. The PV modules are located on 35 buildings in the quarter. They are spread over an area of 20,000 square metres in Steuernagelstra\u00dfe - the size of almost three football pitches. The system produces around 1.3 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. This corresponds to the annual consumption of 650 households. The CO2 savings amount to approximately 760 tons. 52,000 trees would be needed to compensate for this amount.<\/p>\n<p>Mainova offers tenant electricity customers a special tariff. This enables annual savings of around 90 euros compared to the basic supply tariff for an annual consumption of 2,500 kilowatt hours. In addition, all buildings are equipped with smart electricity meters.
