12487 <\/strong>Berlin: <\/b>HOWOGE is building 314 flats, a large day care centre for children and a neighbourhood garage on a 2.6-hectare site on Stra\u00dfe am Flugplatz. 103 flats have been realised in timber hybrid construction. 156 flats are rented as subsidised housing in accordance with the cooperation agreement with the state of Berlin; the remaining units cost less than 10 euros per square metre on average. After completion, 50 per cent of the flats are subject to occupancy restrictions, cost 6.50 euros per square metre cold, and are sold to interested parties with a housing entitlement certificate. The topping-out ceremony for the Johannisg\u00e4rten in Berlin-Johannisthal was celebrated on 25 June 2019 together with Senator for Urban Development and Housing Katrin Lompscher, the District Mayor of Treptow-K\u00f6penick Oliver Igel and all those involved in the project. The inner development is designed as a shared space: Footpaths and cycle paths criss-cross the car-free quarter and link it with the surrounding area. In addition, play, recreation and communal areas, commercial space, a large day care centre for children with 25 places, innovative residential space, a DHL packing station and a neighbourhood garage with 119 parking spaces are being created. \"Today's topping-out ceremony for 314 apartments is not only good news for people looking for an apartment in the vicinity of the booming technology and science location Adlershof. With this construction project, HOWOGE is a good partner for adding affordable housing and housing in line with occupancy rates to the neighbourhood. At the same time, together with the other municipal WBGs, it is a reliable partner for the Senate in the urgently needed expansion of the supply of needs-based and affordable housing in Berlin,\" says Katrin Lompscher.<\/p>\n

The height of the individual buildings varies between two and five storeys, thus creating a gentle transition to the adjacent buildings. By staggering the height of the buildings from the lower edges of the quarter to the denser centre, the concept responds to the adjacent single-family houses. The buildings will be constructed in two different construction systems: six houses will be built in environmentally friendly timber hybrid construction, 13 in solid construction and one house in a combination of both construction methods. According to current planning, completion will be in summer 2021. \"Treptow-K\u00f6penick is a growing district. The state-owned housing associations in particular have a special role to play when it comes to attractive apartments at affordable rents,\" Oliver Igel also confirms. \"Because that is what many Berliners need - older people as well as young families. And it is precisely this mix that can make life in a housing community attractive, lively and less anonymous. That's why I'm delighted that HOWOGE will be building 20 new homes here in the Johannisg\u00e4rten.\"<\/p>\n
