Bochum:<\/strong> 258 new residential spaces in passive house standard in timber hybrid construction. The buildings were constructed to the passive house standard and certified according to the criteria of the DGNB German Sustainable Building Council. The fa\u00e7ade in timber frame construction also ensures a significantly improved eco-balance: compared to a mineral construction method, over 400 t of CO2 were saved. \nWithin only six months, partially furnished 1-room, 2-room and 4-room apartments, common rooms as well as technical rooms were built on the ground floor. The fa\u00e7ade elements were supplied in three different surfaces as pre-greyed larch formwork, fibre cement concrete panels and with galvanised sheet metal elements. The building envelope was assembled entirely without scaffolding, using only lifting platforms.<\/p>\n

The student dormitory was evaluated as part of the \"Variowohnen\" funding programme of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Construction and Home Affairs (BMI), as part of the Zukunft Bau research initiative. The aim was to create affordable living space for students. The new buildings planned in Bochum will revitalise a former mining site and offer a total of 258 students a sustainable new home. The entire complex is barrier-free. The Variowohnen Bochum project was funded with \u20ac 3.3 million by the BMI via the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR), Bonn, and with \u20ac 13.6 million from the housing promotion of the state of NRW, which was applied for in parallel.<\/p>\n
