Future quarter "Schophoven

D - 52459 Schophoven: in Schophoven, on the probable shore edge of the Indesee, a prototypical quarter will be created to serve as a model settlement. Here, work is being done on a structural realisation of the quarter and a transferability of the planning principles to other locations in the Rhenish mining area. Completion: ~2025

This will build on the concept of the existing climate protection housing estates of the EnergyAgency.NRW and the two Faktor X model housing estates. The aim is to integrate resource efficiency and recycling into a new generation of climate protection housing estates and thus to understand climate and resource protection throughout the life cycle. The focus is not only on individual buildings, but also on resource- and land-saving urban development.

At the core of the considerations are a resource- and climate-friendly choice of products (recycled building materials, renewable raw materials, etc.), a construction method that enables value retention through dismantling capability with a high quality of use through flexible floor plans with partly adaptable building structures. The aim is to produce a guideline for municipalities that shows operational paths to the resource turnaround in housing development.
