<p>Low-energy house standard, CHP, photovoltaic system, sustainable mobility concept with bicycle parking in front of the front doors and e-bikes, electric cars in the car-sharing fleet. Quarter with Cradle to Cradle certification and healthy building materials, green roof.</p>

Project costs: approx. 250 million euros. The most far-reaching project of a decentralised water supply and disposal system currently in Europe: vacuum toilets, biogas production and waste water separation (HAMBURG WATER Cycle®). The biogas produced will be used to generate heat and electricity for the new district in a climate-neutral manner in the district's own combined heat and power plant. The project will thus enable climate-neutral living and sustainable drainage.</p>

The Naturhuset apartment house by <a href="https://sk.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bengt_Warne" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bengt Warne</a> in Stockholm was one of the first pioneering buildings to implement the house-in-house principle with a shell of glass. Also the <a href="http://sdg21.eu/db/esa-studierendenwohnheim-kaiserslautern">Student dormitory ESA</a> in Kaiserslautern is built like this. The project in Herne, however, is the most spectacular of its kind in this form.<br />
Das in Partnerschaft vom deutschen Architekturbüro HHS Planer &#38; Architekten AG und vom französischen Architekturbüro Jourda &#38; Perraudin (Francoise Helene Jourda und Gilles Perraudin) geplante Gebäude ist von einer gläsernen Klimahülle umschlossen, die ein mediterranes Klima, ähnlich dem in Nizza, erzeugt. Dieses ist durchschnittlich 5 °C wärmer als die Außentemperatur. Wasserspiele, Erdkanäle und große Tore verhindern im Sommer ein Überhitzen. Die Solaranlage im Dach, ist die damals größte gebäudeintegrierte Anlage ihrer Art gewesen. Die Stützen im Inneren bestehen aus 56 Fichtenstämmen. Fertigstellung: 1999</p>
