Wohnblock “Krokodil” in Winterthur
CH – 8400 Winterthur: Auf dem ehemaligen Industrieareal “Werk 1” der Schweizerischen Lokomotiv- und Maschinenfabrik (SLM) entsteht in der Stadtmitte von Winterthur ein neuer Stadtteil. Entwickelt von dem Schweizer Bau- und Baudienstleistungsunternehmen Implenia soll auf dem Gebiet ein stark heterogenes Quartier mit insgesamt 750 Wohnungen, zum Teil aus Holz, mehreren Gemeinschafts- sowie Gewerbeflächen errichtet werden. Das Areal soll nachhaltig gestaltet und den Anforderungen der 2000-Watt-Gesellschaft entsprechen. Vorerst soll bis 2021 das zentral gelegene Gebäude mit dem Namen “Krokodil” mit 251 WE in Holzbauweise gebaut werden.

4-star Hotel Jakarta in Amsterdam
NL - Amsterdam: the first energy-neutral hotel in Amsterdam with 700 m² of PV modules in the south and east façades. The glass roof above the atrium is also fitted with Photovoltaics which also functions as a sunshade. It was possible to dispense with an air conditioning system. Geothermal energy serves as a further energy source. Rainwater is collected to irrigate the garden in the hall. The building received an "Excellent" rating under the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) sustainability certification system.

Wooden housing estate "Mühlweg" in Vienna
AT - 1210 Vienna-Florisdorf: Europe's largest timber housing estate by 2020 was built along the Mühlweg. Three architectural firms built a total of 250 residential units on three plots of land in a four-storey timber construction. The project emerged from a developer competition on the subject of timber and mixed timber construction in subsidised housing. The construction costs of "Construction Phase C" were 1,060 € gross/m² GFA. Completion: 2006

Building and housing cooperative "Kraftwerk1" in Zurich
CH - 8005 Zurich: 100 apartments in 4 buildings with a total floor space of 11866 m². Infrastructure in the neighbourhood: restaurant, hairdresser, flower and fruit shop, a consumer depot with organic vegetables (opening hours in the off-peak hours), the "Pantoffelbar" with drinks around the clock, a guest room and a large common room with kitchen on the roof. The "Hardturm Settlement" as it is called by the "Kraftwerk 1" building and housing cooperative, which according to common definition would be called a quarter due to the building density and the mix of uses, is located in the Zurich West district. AT - 1030 Vienna: it is the first house built according to the ideas and designs of the painter Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The house contains 50 apartments, four business premises and a doctor's practice. About 250 trees and bushes were planted on the 16 private and three communal roof terraces and on the roofs. DK - Copenhagen-Örestad South: 475 units as large-format buildings around two courtyards forming an 8. Mix of uses: apartments, terraced houses and commercial use (offices, shops and a café on 10,000 m²) with a total of 62,000 m² of usable space. CH - Tobel: The PlusEnergy development in the Thurgau municipality of Tobel with three multi-family houses (MFH) and 32 apartments was built to the Minergie-P standard. The PV system has an installed capacity of 351 kWp. They generate a solar power surplus of 76'000 kWh/a with which each apartment can use a solar-powered electric car which can drive 12'000 km CO2-free per year. Unique are the rents, which are 20% below the quarterly rents for comparable apartments in the Wil/SG region. Swiss Eurosolar Prize 2018. Completion: 2017

NL - Heerhugowaard: With 2,900 apartments on 123 ha of building land, the settlement is the largest sustainable settlement in the world. The total area with park and water areas covers 177 ha. The photovoltaic system on the roofs has a capacity of 3.75 MW. Another PV system with 1.25 MW, as well as three wind turbines on the site are the active components of the CO2-neutral energy supply. Cubist tree houses in Rotterdam
NL - Rotterdam: the cube or tree house housing estate with 38 apartments was designed by architect Piet Blom and has become an architectural classic. The floor area without trunk is approximately 100 m², a cube has an edge length of 7.5 meters. The outer walls of the apartments were built using a wooden skeleton construction made of pine wood, the supporting structure and the floor slabs are made of in-situ concrete. Completion: 1984
