Germany's first Efficiency House Plus housing estate opened

After a construction period of just under one and a half years, Germany's first Efficiency House Plus development was opened in Hügelshart near Augsburg on 14 July. The nine single-family houses and four semi-detached houses produce more energy than their residents consume on average for everyday life. The estate was built by asset bauen wohnen gmbh in cooperation with BayWa AG in accordance with the criteria of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Building for Efficiency House Plus houses.
In the construction of three new apartment buildings in Wieblinger Weg, Stadtwerke Heidelberg Umwelt GmbH implemented an innovative overall energy concept for Baugenossenschaft Neu Heidelberg eG. PV systems with a total output of 30 kWp and a module area of 200 square metres were installed on the roofs of the new buildings. Bonn/Düsseldorf. The fast, affordable and complete energy transition towards 100 percent renewable energy needs thought leaders and pioneers who inspire others. With the annual awarding of the German Solar Prize, EUROSOLAR puts these actors in the public eye and offers new impulses for a decentralised, citizen-oriented and regenerative conversion of the energy system.
EUROSOLAR e.V. and the EnergyAgency.NRW will jointly present the winners of the German Solar Prize 2017 on Saturday, 14 October 2017, at VillaMedia in Wuppertal.
In the run-up to the award ceremony, EUROSOLAR, in cooperation with the Hermann Scheer Foundation is organising a symposium to tie in with Hermann Scheer's visionary work "Der Energethische Imperativ" (The Energy Ethical Imperative). Together with the audience, the speakers will discuss how the rapid path to a renewable energy age can be implemented.
The award ceremony of the German Solar Prize begins with greetings from Lothar Schneider, Managing Director of EnergyAgency.NRW, Bettina Brücher, Mayor of the City of Wuppertal and Jörg HeynkesManaging Director of VillaMedia GmbH. Give an introduction Prof. Dr Andreas Pinkwart, Minister for Economic Affairs, Innovation, Digitalisation and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and Stephan GrügerMdL and Vice-President of EUROSOLAR e.V. Afterwards, the award winners will be honoured. Dr Axel BergChairman of EUROSOLAR Germany, the highlight of the event.
This will be followed by a get-together with snacks.

With the "GREEN high 3 Roofs | Facades | Courtyards" funding programme for existing buildings, we want to expand the greening of roofs, facades and backyards. In this way, we are supporting the efforts of the people of Cologne to green and thus enhance the value of private house and courtyard areas close to their homes as well as commercial areas.
The grants are awarded as part of the GRÜN hoch 3 programme in accordance with the funding guidelines. By funding green roofs, façades and courtyards in densely populated urban areas, we are helping to improve the local urban climate.
The summer heat load is reduced, dust binding is improved and evaporative cooling is increased. The decentralised temporary storage of rainwater on roofs and in unsealed, green courtyards contributes to the retention of rainwater on site, increases evaporative cooling and reduces the damage caused by heavy rainfall events.
In areas with high levels of pollution, the unsealing and greening of unused rear courtyards and the greening of facades and roofs can not only use rainwater for evaporative cooling during summer heat events, but also achieve additional environmental improvements and building optimisation.
With a new law, Paris encourages its residents to garden the public space. Wherever possible, vertical and horizontal gardens are to be created, urban agriculture is promoted. There is even a starter kit with planting soil. Among other things, 100 hectares of living facades and roofs are to be created by 2020.
