Neumühlen community housing estate

reread27283 Verden: Nine timber frame houses and one straw bale house have been realised in the eco-settlement. Completion: 2018

Ecological building materials: each member commits to build according to a given ecological standard.

Energy supply: Until 2012, a combined heat and power plant was operated with rapeseed oil to generate electricity and heat - unfortunately, the technology proved to be immature and was therefore replaced by a gas condensing boiler. We are currently looking into the installation of a solar thermal system.

Water: To reduce drinking water consumption, a constructed wetland is operated. All the washing water is discharged here and after clarification is used again for flushing the toilets in all the houses. This leads to a saving of 1/3 of the normally consumed water quantity.

Garden: there is a total of approx. 1700 sqm of garden available for common use. There is a children's playground, a football field, a barbecue area and a small vegetable garden. The construction of a swimming pond is still in the planning stage.
