Ecology
Waste/water Chilled water management, water-saving vacuum toilets. Grey water is treated in constructed wetlands.
Waste The faeces (black water) are collected centrally and, together with the biowaste produced in the households, are fed into an anaerobic tank on site to produce biogas.
Energy Solar orientation of the buildings, "intelligent" heating technology, CHP and condensing boiler technology, a solar thermal system
Building materials / Building biology Environmentally friendly building materials. The ground floors were built solidly, the second floor and attic in wood panel construction.
Traffic Cars are only allowed for loading and unloading. Vehicles are parked in a central car park at the entrance to the estate.
Notes In Holger Wallbaum's dissertation, a sustainability assessment was developed and carried out on the basis of the Flintenbreite housing estate, in which, in addition to an economic and social survey and assessment, a life cycle assessment and a MIPS calculation were also carried out at estate level: [WALLBAUM 2002] Wallbaum, Holger: Denk- und Kommunikationsansätze zur Bewertung des nachhaltigen Bauens und Wohnens.
